Automatically Send Twitter and Facebook Your Posts

Today’s technology tip is a time save. It’s called Revive Old Posts, and it’s a free WordPress plugin. Actually, their original name is Tweet Old Post, and it keeps your old posts alive and attracting traffic to your website.

The free version of the plugin sends posts (articles) that you have on your blog to your Twitter and Facebook accounts at a time you choose. I’ve been using it for 4 years now, and have it set to send out a post every 10 hours. This way it looks like I’m more active online than I am. And if you’re not active very often, but have a good number of blog posts, you can look more active, too.

Here are some of the options that Revive Old Posts offers you. You can:

• Share new posts as well as old posts by telling the system how old posts have to be in order to be shared. What shared is the name of the post, and link to it.
• Choose the number of hours between posts. I choose 10 hours, but you can choose what’s best for your audience and business.
• Choose the number of /posts you can send out at once. I recommend no more than 1.
• Exclude categories. Actually, because of complaints about events posted but not longer taking place or holiday messages I post to my blog, I set up categories for events and exclude all those posts.
• Integrated it with Google Analytics.

The Revive Old Posts plugin does take some time to set up — maybe 10-15 minutes if you’re not computer literate. Once you add it to your WordPress site, activate it and you’ll see “Revive Old Post” show up in your dashboard. Then follow the directions.

I don’t use their pro version. Mainly because the links on their site don’t work and I don’t know what it costs. But if it were working, it will also send your posts to LinkedIn, add images to your Tweets and Facebook account and do a few a bunch of other good features that saves you time.
