Summary: Are you letting your visitors book mark your site with a description reading "Untitled"?
Do you know that you need a good title to help the search engines find your site?

Go take a look at your web site. All the way on the top of your screen is your site’s title. On this site, you’ll see the name of this article.

Most search engines use the "title" of your page as one of the ways to search for "keywords". Yet as I travel around the web, I see so many "untitled" titles! Or titles that list the company name on all the pages.

If you want your web site to be found look in your web site hosting system for the area that lets you add "title" along with description and keywords, to your pages. Your title can be up to 60 characters long, should look like a for what is located on the page but be understood, use some of the words you’d use to find yourself and stick to under 60 characters. Feel free to use different titles on different pages, too. Just make sure that your title describes what is on a particular page. Don’t leave your site untitled or unsearchable.

If your website is blog based, make sure that it contains a Search Engine Optimization plug in. It may be an extra step to set up your title, keywords and description, but it will be worth it when your pages are found.

Examples: Since many people know me as Coach Maria, I could use that in my title, but I don’t. I also don’t use Elevating Your Business as few people would search for the services I provide using that name. Instead, I use keywords like Business Coach for Financial Advisors on my home page, and describe other pages based on what is on each page.

Added benefit: The title of your site, is ALSO, the name of your site that appears in the "favorites files" or "bookmarked file" when your potential client saves it for future reference or use.
