Tip: Where to Start on Linkedin(R)

Now that is the question!

Here is some advice I provide my clients…

1) In Excel, create a list of your benefits/results and features of your services.  Ask others how they would look you up on the web and use those words, too.  This makes a great keyword list, too.

2) Look to make that the most important words you choose in #1 end up in your profile.

3) Complete your profile 100%

4) Use add ons: look at the additional information list and add what you can, look at all the apps and use the ones that have to do with you.

5) Update your blog at least weekly and show the posts on your Company and Updates status.

6) Only join 1 or 2 organizations/groups in your business sector.

7) I presume you already have an ideal client profile — join groups where they hang out on in droves.  Participate in these groups and post questions regarding other people’s posts, post comments, and post your stuff, too!

8) In your profile area, add all relevant companies you’ve worked at, go back as far as you can, you never know who will find you.  AND use this information to find others.

9) Consider being choosy regarding who you add as a contact.  Contact the people you’re connected to and get to know them.   Make it quality over quantity.

10)  Don’t make your profile just a copy of your resume.  Let “you” shine through.
