Making Good Decisions is More Important than Succession Planning

We're apt to automatically make decisions based only on what we see right in front of us; or what the long term goals are. Apt to be real good with detail or the big picture, again to varying degrees. However, to run a viable business, IMO we need to both make decisions based on now and how it might affect the company’s future. Ergo, when someone has a business it's important to create (at a minimum) a vision for 1 year, an exit vision, and a

PowerPoint Presenation Thoughts

In teaching many classes and speaking at lots of conferences and chapter meeitngs, I've become very aware of making sure that my PowerPoint presenations are beneficial and useful. The times I don't use them are when I speak for 20-30 minutes. I mean it will take longer to set up the computer then it will to do anything else. I use my presentation as my notes; although the audience doesn't realize it. Those notes "jog" my memory. Even 3 words = 10 minutes of talk. I don't make people think that I think they're stupid by reading stuff line by line. I use pictures when I can. No running things, floating things, etc. No font under

Thanksgiving… (what I didn’t know)

2022-08-07T17:46:52-04:00November 26th, 2010|Happy Holidays|0 Comments

Somehow yesterday I found myself reading about Thanksgiving. Living in WA State and visiting Canada as often as I have, I did know that Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October. But I didn't know that in 1621 it was given it's name and place in the world. That although celebrations of the harvest took place, it's formal name comes from the USA name for the holiday. But I found these links and learned about Thanksgiving around the world. Time Line http://www.theholidayspot.com/thanksgiving/round_the_world.htm
