What’s your fact or fiction story?

In the 1970’s I was watching a TV program and a couple were talking about their relationship. I thought to myself “wow, what a great guy, I’d love to meet him and talk to him and I’d love to have a guy who talks about his wife like that”. In 1984 I was sitting in a living room of a colleague I was visiting in LA. I hadn’t met her husband yet because he drove a truck and wasn’t around when I was visiting. She wanted me to see him and took out a tape of a show. Yup, it was the couple from the 1970’s.

In 1964 or ’65, when I was ten, I was reading the newspaper (I enjoy reading and we used to listen to TV hosts read the Sunday funnies to us every week). I read about a low-income family with 14 children who got a special deal to come to NY from Florida to visit the Worlds Fair. I thought “wow, that’s great that they’re helping that family get to the fair”. In 2000, after knowing her for more than 4 years, my friend (in North Carolina) took out a newspaper article to show me. Yup, she was the youngest in that family. In 2003, I took Pam back to Flushing Meadows to reminisce.

In the late 70’s I think there was a show called “Here Come the Brides” featuring heart throb Bobby Sherman. I thought it would be great to live in Seattle. Now I almost do.

I remember learning about Mt. Rushmore in school. I thought some day I’m going there. Now, every time I drive across the country from Washington State to “home” in NY, I visit the memorial.
