Dear Maria, I want to personally thank you because you were one of LinkedIn's first million members (member number 399,261 in fact!*). In any technology adoption lifecycle, there are the early adopters, those who help lead the way. That was you. We hit a big milestone at LinkedIn this week when our 100 millionth member joined the site. When we founded LinkedIn, our vision was to help the world's professionals be more successful and productive. Today, with your help, LinkedIn is changing the lives of millions of members by helping them connect with others, find jobs, get insights, start a business, and much more. We are grateful for your support and look forward to helping you

So, what’s your number? Are You Under 1 Million?

Today I received a Thank You email today from Reid Hoffman, Co-founder and Chairman of LinkedIn.  You may have received the same email.    It seems that I  was one of the first million LinkedIn members, actually I was one of the first 1/2 million members.  I'm number  399261 out of 100 million members.  Not surprising since I've been online since 1992 and purchased my first computer in 1981! What changes have you watched happen and enjoyed or wished it didn't happen? P.S.:  Your

Intention 1: If it is to just promote your company’s products, classes, etc. then one by one go to each group, click on the PROMOTION TAB and look across the line you see those words. See what that groups RULES are. Many groups allow promotions if they’re put under the Promotions TAB and some don’t allow even that much. Intention 2: To gently promote your company or services by providing others with an “added value” article or tip “strutting your stuff” to allow you to start building relationships with strangers on the list. You are going to promote having a discussion and want comments about the content of the

LinkedIn® Connection Don’ts

Here are a few of my personal favorites to "not do"! 1) Don't connect with me telling me we're friends when we are not.  I know you're doing it this way because you don't know me  and if you don't know me,  LinkedIn makes you provide my email address.  Instead a)  Send me an email that you want to connect and include your LinkedIn URL and email address. b) If we're in a group together send me an email me that you'd like to connect and include your email address that I'll use to connect to you.  Of course, there are no guarentees that I'll connect with you, but you hve a better shot that I will if
